Cheapside Hoard, Museum of London 2013

Client: Museum of London

When the Cheapside Hoard: London’s Lost Jewels exhibition went on display at the Museum of London in 2013, Unusual Rigging was the first port of call for Shaun Green, deputy head of facilities at the museum. In order to display the collection most effectively, Shaun identified a need to overhaul parts of the Linbury Gallery.
Unusual Rigging:

  • designed and installed a full Unistrut grid to provide a rigid framework for the lighting, the hanging of some of the exhibits and to provide lateral support to some of the displays
  • added to the gallery’s existing structure and stabilised it, increasing support, adding more suspension points and working with a structural engineer to ensure correct positioning
  • updated the plan of the gallery to allow for better layout of future exhibitions.
