Unusual Rigging demonstrates its 21st century business model at ABTT

30th May 2017

Unusual Rigging will use its presence at this year's ABTT show to demonstrate to clients, both existing and potential, how they benefit  from the company’s drive towards digitising key aspects of the company's business processes.

Visitors to stand D22 will be able to learn from the team how the transition to a 21st century business model of 'virtualising' key operational processes, is saving significant money and time, as well as supporting Unusual Rigging's sustainability agenda.

Tom Harper, Unusual's sustainability co-ordinator, explained: “Over the past three years we have focused on implementing a new, up-to-date asset tracking software system that utilises RFID on the majority of the company's capital assets. This digital innovation has enabled better tracking of kit with time stamps and accountability, late return reports and automated certification for all rigging and lifting equipment across all our diverse projects.”

Unusual will also be demonstrating its new servicing and inspection software, Kinetic, in order to highlight how this digital drive will also benefit its many servicing, inspection and maintenance clients within the theatre industry and beyond.

Tom continued: “Kinetic is set to be extremely beneficial – not just to us but also our customers. With everything digitalised, there will be no long correspondence trails. Once inspection has taken place, the information will be updated on the customer portal, and will ensure a far better record of historical reports as well as any remedial action required. For us it's all about knowledge keeping and having an exact status on every piece of our equipment.”

A brand new one tonne Stageket chain hoist will make its ABTT debut on the stand. This latest development from Liftket has been specially designed for the needs of the entertainment industry. Tom Nightingale, technical sales manager at Unusual, commented: “We are really looking forward to hearing what visitors have to say about this new chain hoist, which is set to answer all difficult tasks that involve low operating noise, safety and flexibility.”
