Early in October, the focus was on a smooth handover of the new installation at The Theatre Royal, Newcastle. All went well and Grease opened on time. Meanwhile, in the West End, Unusual were working on the final two of the new musicals this year, namely Porgy and Bess and the Sound of Music. The 15 tonnes of flown elements of the The Sound of Music are the heaviest Unusual have installed at The London Palladium. Previews started on Friday November 3rd.
Unusual provided production services for two events on Trafalgar Square this month. The first was the annual Sea Cadets Parade to commemorate The Battle of Trafalgar. The second event was on October 27th and was part of The London Film Festival. The event featured director Mike Figgis mixing sound and moving image from some of the capital's most exciting creative talent, with the resulting spectacle projected onto a 120-foot screen in Trafalgar Square.
