Unusual Month May 2007

A busy month for theatre at Unusual. Having had an unseasonably dry and warm April, it was inevitable that the rains would come down just in time for the build of the venue for Garsington Opera in Oxfordshire. Within this (muddy) four week programme, Unusual rigging erect a tensile roof, sound baffles and build a complete auditorium with seating. On the touring theatre circuit, Mamma Mia! is in the Baltic with visits to Riga and Helsinki. Cats moves from Wimbledon to Manchester Opera House, The Producers from Manchester to Woking, and Starlight Express from Edinburgh to Canterbury.

In the West End, Porgy & Bess finishes at The Savoy, Unusual rig for The BAFTA’s at The Palladium, the home of The Sound of Music and we get Evita out of The Adelphi prior to the fit up of the much heralded Joseph. In Dublin, Unusual are installing a new flying system and safety curtain in The Gaiety Theatre.

Amongst other projects undertaken by Unusual in May were the grand final of the L’Oreal Colour Trophy at Earls Court, The Barcelona Motor Show, further installation work at The O2 Arena and conference work for 3M in Birmingham.
