There are three main elements to consider, when moving a person mid-air from one position to another. Firstly, the structure to which the suspension equipment is attached. Secondly, the equipment holding the person, including PPE and finally, the means by which the movement is controlled.
Unusual Rigging are acknowledged experts in the suspension and movement of people. Recent projects have included work on the Madonna Tour, Kylie Minogue Tour, The Witches of Eastwick, James Bond movies: Tomorrow Never Dies and The World is not Enough, You Bet!, They Think its all Over and a complex project involving 8 harnessed performers for the opening of the new Guinness Visitor Centre in Dublin.
Unusual developed a new flying harness for The Witches of Eastwick. The harness differs from conventional products in that the attachment points are on the hips and the artist can enjoy freedom of movement, whilst suffering no restriction on the diaphragm.
On Thames TV's You Bet!, Unusual employed three lines at 120 degree angles to connect at the 'victims' harness. With one person controlling each line, the 'victim' could be moved to any position vertically/laterally in the TV studio.
