On Sunday 14th April, the who’s who of the theatrical world gathered at the Royal Albert Hall in London for the 2024 Olivier Awards, sponsored by MasterCard. Once again, Unusual Rigging was on board to rig the spectacular event, watched by an audience of 5000 in the magnificent venue and by millions of people around the world on the small screen.

This is also the second year running, that Unusual Rigging has had the privilege of sponsoring one of the award categories. The Unusual Rigging Award for Outstanding Achievement in Affiliate Theatre is rewarded in recognition of achievements in commercial London theatre.

Introduced in 2004, the award recognises excellence in theatre works throughout London, beyond the West End theatres, that are considered for all the original Olivier Awards. This award also includes works performed by junior companies, or in smaller rooms, within the traditional West End theatres.

At the star studded ceremony, actor and writer Ryan Calais Cameron presented the Unusual Rigging award to Matilda Feyisayo Ibini for her show, Sleepova at the Bush Theatre. This is the fourth year in a row that Bush Theatre has picked up the Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement in Affiliate Theatre.

Tom Harper, managing director, Unusual Rigging commented: “We’re thrilled to see Bush Theatre recognised again this year and that they’re making such a noticeable impact on the industry. We’re proud to sponsor an award that shines a spotlight on the vibrant creativity and innovation flourishing beyond the mainstream stages, celebrating the daring spirit and untold stories that enrich the tapestry of our theatrical landscape.”
