Inspections and Maintenance Assistant

An excellent opportunity for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and flexible individual to join the Inspections and Maintenance Team at Unusual Rigging Ltd. The role will be predominantly office based at our headquarters in Bugbrooke, Northamptonshire.
 
The following abilities are essential to the role:
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and literate.
Computer literate with a high degree of competency using Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other inhouse bespoke software programmes.
Excellent attention to detail.
Responsible and dedicated attitude to all tasks in a fast moving environment. The role will encompass the following tasks.
Assisting with the planning and coordination of Inspection and Maintenance Engineers
Providing administrative and operational support to the Inspection Engineers
Scheduling of third party inspections
Budgeting and purchasing/raising purchase orders
Costings and quotations
Logistics planning
Accommodation and Accreditation management
Communication with clients, suppliers, contractors and agencies

Structural Engineer

Based in Bugbrooke, Unusual are suppliers of rigging and technical solutions to the entertainment, exhibition, architectural and event industries, we offer a full range of services, including design, build and engineering.

We currently have an excellent opportunity for someone to fulfil the structural engineering requirements within our design department and this person must have sound theoretical understanding and clear appreciation of practical issues.  This will involve the design and analysis from first principles and by the application of standard codes of practice for limit state design in steel (Eurocode 3), to a lesser extent aluminium (Eurocode 9) and other codes where appropriate.

The successful applicant should have Multidisciplinary engineering skills and an ability to quickly assimilate and understand new information when required for various applications.  Good communication and organisational skills, proficiency in AutoCAD and Inventor.  Practical experience gained in manufacturing or construction and design office work.  A practical awareness of fabrication / site constraints, a talent for attention to detail and a broad ability to comprehend the wider issues that may influence the work in hand.  Good motivation and the discipline to work unsupervised are key requirements.

This demanding role offers an opportunity to apply and further develop a wide range of technical and personal skills in a diverse and professional environment.  The position is salaried and the standard 40 hour week can vary within deadline requirements.  Whilst office based, some work occurs on site and in the workshop.

Mechanical Design Engineer

Based in Bugbrooke, Unusual are suppliers of rigging and technical solutions to the entertainment, exhibition, architectural and event industries, we offer a full range of services, including design, build and engineering.

We are currently looking for a mechanical / design engineer to become an integral part of our busy design engineering department.  The department is responsible for working with our clients and in house project managers to design and deliver practical engineering solutions to a variety of challenging briefs, ranging from simple truss arrangements in 2D to complete stage engineering designs in 3D.

The successful candidate will report directly to the department manager and the role will be to produce high quality, workable designs in both 2D and 3D using the latest versions of AutoCAD and Inventor.  This will involve analysis of the client brief, liaising and coordinating with customers, suppliers, fabrication and installation teams, production of general arrangement and detailed design drawings, relevant calculations and site surveys.   Being able to manage and prioritise a varied workload and to work in a flexible, business focused manner is essential.

The successful applicant must have good knowledge and experience of:  AutoCAD; Inventor; Microsoft Windows and Excel.
It will be an advantage to have experience of:  Steel wire rope assemblies; lifting equipment including winches; structural engineering and site surveys, but not essential.

Good analytical skills, experience of manufacturing or construction and a keen eye for detail are essential.  The job will be based at our premises near Northampton, with occasional travel to site.
