PLASA, together with Chris Higgs, having liaised with the sponsors, have been very busy working on a new format Rigging Conference which will take place next month. Moving away from the traditional,it is being shaken up and included in the seminar programme. Taking place over all three days of the show, and hoping to attract an audience from lighting sound video etc. The new structure will, we hope, encourage more conversation, more opinions and more lively debate (that's a polite term, by the way) on some of the most current topics facing the event rigging fraternity.

As Platinum Sponsors of the event, we want to see the conference thrive and the only way to do that is to keep it fresh. The idea behind the new format is to open the conversation up to an audience who are not necessarily riggers and to bring it to the heart of the show floor, rather than being tucked away in a first floor conference room. The biggest change is that this is no longer a ticketed event – all you need to do is take a look at the programme, https://www.plasashow.com/seminar-programme#/ and if you like the sound of any of the seminars taking place, you just turn up – no need to put your name down and no need to pay.

We very much see this event as a way to move the industry forward – we don't want to be riggers preaching to other riggers as though we belong to some exclusive club. Whether you work in sound, lighting, indoor events, outdoor events, theatre, TV....whatever – you might not have 'rigger' in your job title, but we can guarantee you'll need to have some knowledge of rigging – you're certainly going to be dealing with some of us in your day to day work.

One thing the event never had been and never will be is boring – and while we don't condone hecklers, there's nothing quite like a heated, lively debate to keep things interesting...and to draw in the crowds. And we're sure that once you hear what's happening on the show floor (we think you'll find it difficult not to hear it), you're bound to find yourself wondering what all the fuss is about. We promise you won't be disappointed.
